Powerless Fear

fear

Fear has absolutely NO power on its own – only the power that you give it.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

– 2 Timothy 1:7

I meet so many believers who are trapped by fear.  Fear to move forward with sharing gifts and talents for the glory of God.  Fear to share a word from God to encourage someone’s heart.  Fear of man.  Fear of rejection.  Fear of death – the unknown – you name it … if you fear it that’s what I’m talking about.

I’ll never forget last summer, at the airport, staring out the window at the planes.  I was talking with The Lord and telling him that I had fear of flying because I just didn’t understand how it all works … and He so gently said to my heart, “In order to experience the peace that passes all understanding, you must first give up the need to understand.”

I was leveled.

We’re not created to know everything.  We’re not supposed to know everything.  That’s the issue right now.  We have been fed the lie that we can know everything and control everything – but we simply can’t.

Why would we need God if we could?

When we can fully surrender to Him – regardless of the outcome, we’ll be in perfect peace.

When we can carry on without knowing what comes next, we’ll be in perfect peace.

When we can trust Him with our loved ones and their lives more than we trust ourselves, we’ll be in perfect peace.

A wise man once told me, “Your battle is not against fear.  Your battle is against the resistance to turn to Jesus when fear comes.”

Perfect Love casts out all fear.  Fear bows down to Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God dwells in us – the same power that raised Jesus from the grave literally dwells in us… and fear bows down to Him … it bows down to His Spirit living in us… it bows down to us through the authority of Jesus!  Do you get what I’m saying?!?!

The enemy loves to watch fearful believers shy back – afraid – shaking.  He loves it! It makes his job easy.

Beloved, it’s time to start living – like for real! It’s time to start walking out what we say we believe with power and authority.  We have to stop tripping over ourselves, over our circumstances, over the pettiness of human nature … we have to stop tripping over lack of control and FEAR.

Let’s be done bowing down to fear .  Let’s stop letting fear tell us where we’re going (or not going).  I’d rather die ALIVE and living than being held in captivity by fear.  I’ve been there, y’all.  One year of my life completely stolen by fear.

Never again.

I think sometimes we’re putting way more attention on the enemy than needed.  We are not enabled by him.  He does not control us or stop us or limit us or hinder us from the promises of God.  He can make the road tough, sure, but if God is for us who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world… right?!  (1 John 4:4)

I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who gives me strength … right?! (Philippians 4:13)

God’s power is made perfect in my weakness … right?! (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Nothing is impossible with God … right?! (Matthew 19:26)

The list could go on and on – and DOES go on and on.

So here’s to throwing off everything that hinders!  Here’s to the warrior daughters of God that are tired of being controlled by fear! Here’s to seeking God wholeheartedly and believing His promises regardless of how you feel! Here’s to being bold, brave, and relentless as we journey through this world that is not our home.

It’s all for the glory of God and He’s already made a way.

You are loved!

War Room

War room

My laundry room recently became my war room. As I sat in there the other night, I read back through some of the prayers attached to the wall and thanked God for how He’s going to heal, restore, and provide for you. There are so many requests from status updates I see on social media. Those don’t go void, y’all. Although I’ve got your back- be sure to speak life over yourself and your circumstances. Pray. Pray without ceasing.

I was recently convicted of my own lack of prayer time. I have a habit to “pray on the go”. That’s just not good enough for me anymore.

The worst thing we can do is tell someone we will pray for them, and then not. This is serious business.

Prayer changes things. Prayer changes people. Prayer changes me.

I’ve been pushing through a place of boredom and just going through the motions. I want more but I’m not always willing to make changes in order to go deeper.

I don’t want this cultural “Christianity”. I don’t want to just be a fan of Jesus. I want to be a true follower. Completely sold out. Completely abandoned. Completely weird.

If you’re feeling that tug on your heart but you keep turning on the TV or scrolling through the chaos on social media … I want to encourage you to join me in the war room. It doesn’t have to be pretty. It’s actually better when it’s not pretty. Just come. Be silent. Be still. And watch the breath of heaven flood over you.

Jesus changed everything. You can’t know Him and stay the same.

You are loved!

Gifts & Talents

give-a-gift

I’ve wrestled with God for many years over the gifts that I wanted and the gifts that he gave me.

It wasn’t until I stopped trying to be like everyone else and be accepted by everyone else that I could see my own gifts and talents clearly.

As I cultivate those gifts and talents I am rewarded. I have so much excitement for the present and for the future.

I spent many years searching for my purpose and trying to imitate what I saw in others whom I admired. That got me nowhere. Your purpose isn’t “out there” somewhere and it’s definitely not in what others are doing.

The Lord told me to write. I’ve run from that for many years. Last year I started doing what He told me to do forever ago… And lo’ and behold (is that what people say? It seemed right) I am overflowing in satisfaction and contentment. I’m excited to watch the days unfold and see where God leads this journey that I’m on.

It’s all for His glory.
