Breathing

Breathing

Are you breathing? Are you breathing properly?

Did you know that 95% of people do not breathe properly?  Okay! I totally just made up that statistic so don’t EVER quote that! haha! I just figure in today’s fast paced life people are not breathing properly.

A couple of months ago I was dealing with some health problems and my chiropractor told me to practice breathing.  I can’t even begin to explain how breathing properly has changed my life forever!  When I took my first deep breath it hurt so bad because I never use my lungs to that capacity.

I’m pretty sure I have not breathed since I was a baby.  Watch how a baby breathes.  Watch their little tummies inflate and deflate.  They breathe properly.  We don’t.

So in this season I have been taking time to breathe.  Life has just gotten so busy that we’re not even breathing.  What the heck?!?!

Check out this scripture about breath:

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. – Genesis 2:7 ESV

God breathed into our nostrils.  God spoke and other creation came to life but specifically with man, God breathed into his nostrils.  So intimate and detailed.

Take a moment to think of God putting his mouth on your nose and breathing life into you.  Close your eyes.  Imagine.  That brings tears to my eyes.  Who are we?!?!?  We were formed from dust and yet God would love us so much that He would put his mouth on our nose and breathe life into us.

Think about that in a deeper sense than just a physical lifeless human lying on the ground in need of breath.  Think of where you’re at in life right now.  Think of what God has done for you.

I know in my current season God is breathing life back into me.  Dead things come to life in His presence, ain’t that right?!?! You just can’t stay dead around Him.  That’s His thing!

I want to encourage you to breathe today.  I want to encourage you to bring the dead things in your life into His presence today.  If it’s your heart, come.  If it’s unforgiveness, come.  If it’s jealousy and envy, come.  Dead marriage, bring it! Broken relationships, yup… those too.  Prodigal children, bring ’em.  Struggles with addiction, depression, worry, … all that!  Bring those to Him.  Your relationship with Christ, definitely bring that!  He will breathe life into you and your life.

God was able to breathe fresh life into Adam because he was lifeless.  Adam wasn’t resisting.  Are you in that place?  Come. Come and receive life again.  Come and receive breath.

You are loved, valued, and worthy beyond what you could ever imagine!

  1. sometimes I am so used to areas being dead that I think it is normal. I pray that Father God breathes over every dead area in my life. That is the gospel that dead things come to life. Thank you. Bless You
