I was just doing some stuff around the house with music playing in the background. I kept hearing “We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Everyone. Overcome.”
I’m pretty sure that line was repeated about 10 times. Around #6 I threw my hands up in the air and starting proclaiming this truth along with the singer. By #9 I was so excited in my spirit and fully aware of this truth. By #10 I was jumping and praising God because I know he is faithful and I have experienced his faithfulness over and over again in my life.
And thus … this blog was born:
You will overcome whatever it is you’re going through. I don’t need to know the details – I know God and I know he is fully capable and able to get you through this.
When your eyes settle on your circumstances it’s hard to imagine there could be a way out. I want to encourage you to take your eyes off of what’s happening around you and place them on Jesus. How do I do that, April? You call out to him. Just like if you were talking to me and sharing your fears … share that with Jesus today. We can get so busy trying to perfect prayers and what we’re going to say to God that we wind up not saying anything and we miss out on relationship with him. Just speak to him and be honest.
If you’re under attack, take heart: The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. – 1 John 3:8. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. – 1 John 5:4. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. – Hebrews 11:1. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? – Romans 8:24. Remember that God is the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. – Romans 4:17.
Don’t underestimate the King. You lift your head up today even if it takes everything you’ve got. You fix your eyes on Jesus, dig deep, no matter how much it hurts and proclaim with your mouth that you will overcome.
You are loved dearly. I’m already celebrating your victory! Glory to God!
