Today I had to run a few errands which included grocery shopping. The weather was fine as I made my first stop at a store but when I was finished and headed back to my car all I could see was darkness from where storm clouds had moved in unexpectedly. Luckily, I had just gotten the groceries in the car, parked my cart, and jumped in the car before the bottom fell out. I sat in my car grateful that I had gotten everything loaded before the down pour and moved on to my next stop.
The rain had let up just enough for me to make a mad dash for the second store entrance without getting completely soaked but as soon as I entered the building a major down pour came again. I went on about my business for about an hour and when I left that store I was amazed. The rain had stopped, the sky was blue, only white clouds in the sky, and the sun was shining so bright. If everything wasn’t still wet you would have never known that the down pour had happened at all. It was amazing.
As I was heading back home I started to reflect on how God is so faithful in our lives. Sometimes a down pour comes out of nowhere. It catches us off guard and sends us scurrying – looking for shelter – but for me personally it has been when I carry on with my life regardless of the storm, I turn around and there is sunshine, as if it came out of nowhere.
Think of one of the hardest times in your life. Did sunshine make its way back to you? I know it did for me and it’s when I wasn’t actually looking for the sunshine. I had decided to stand my ground, push through the storm and before I knew it, the sky was blue and the sun was shining.
Our God is a God of restoration. Keep pushing and keep believing Him by faith. The sunshine is on its way.
I’m so thankful for the Son.
